I have similar thoughts a lot. Even just seeing the arm of someone in a window of their apartment on my block, I know I'll probably never meet them, but something in me wants to know who they are and what their life and world is like. As usual, l love your writing of this.
Hey Stella. Oh we are safe, very camped out at home, lots of homemade pasta and 80's movies. We know how to hunker down.
This piece today, it was very much about how the world is insane, no matter where you look. The smacking irony? Three people unsubscribed today after reading it. That's the reality. This isa story some people would literally choose to avoid.
Oh jeez, yeah, challenging the general population to actually FEEL what is going in is asking a lot, it seems. I’m sorry. I appreciated your story very much. We need more like it. Keep it coming!
We have a neighbor with goats and they sometimes produce sounds that mimic the human scream convincingly. You mostly hear such screams during the day, but sometimes you do hear them at night and it's really eery. You hope it's the goats.
Yes, I've heard this. Oddly, one of my very first records was so macabre - it was the sound of someone killing a rabbit. I know, that's a light carefree childhood.....
My wife was at home, and I asked her to translate what this woman was saying (assuming it was Georgian) and she could not decipher it. It may not even have been words.

Big thanks Jordan! It's all a version of that Tom Wait's song - "what is be bulding in there?" eh?
I'd never heard that Waits ... tune (?) Very cool.

Oy, this is so raw. I have been thinking about you so much, and hoping you are safe. It's so much. Too much. This world is insane.

Stay safe💙
right back at you
So good. I learned long ago that we can never know what someone's night has been. Reason enough to be kind.
Exactly!

Be careful, back in the day people would say "She killed the rabbit" to describe someone who was pregnant.
Oh good lord yes! This was just some guy ending a bunny’s life — and recording it!
A beautiful piece of witnessing! Sometimes it's good not to understand another language but I'm not sure whether this was one of those times.

Oy...
There are a lot of Armenians here, about 30% of the population actually, for centuries. If she was speaking Armenian, that would explain some of it.
Oh my. :-(
Dave - indeed. It could be anything - related to the protests or not.
