I've always felt that great big wonderful things are built on small good things. It's cumulative acts of small kindnesses that lead to bigger acts of justice, redemption, you know, stuff like that. And it's often people you've never heard of in countries and cities you've never been to that build the foundation upon which the well known accomplishments rest. It sounds like Malhkas was one of those people. I submit a toast to his legacy!

yes yes and yes. the newcomer expat who was next to me was so overwhelmed, and I gave him the headline details so he could navigate these 4 bottles we sampled. "I'm just paying it forward." I explained at one point. He got it, a version of what you are describing - small acts of generosity can become a force of good no matter how screwed up the world is.

Indeed! It was intimate, and epic at the same time. The guy standing in the picture is Akaki, a fine winemaker and friend. The woman in the foreground, Daria organized the event.

the common toast is "gaumarjos" which loosely translates to "to victory". on nights like this one, the toast is gaumarjos, JOS JOS.
